Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day Kipp!

This is our second Valentine's together.  Kipp and I have been together for a year and a half this month.  He is such a great guy and I am lucky to have him stick around. ;) Last year, my car was broken into at work which upset me very much.  I had many things stolen, so when Valentine's rolled around, Kipp bought me a new GPS System!  I was pretty surprised because I was just hoping for some flowers or a card!  This is when I found out that Kipp is not a flowers and chocolate type of guy.  On our first actual date, which happened to be my birthday, Kipp took me to dinner and a movie.  At the movie theater he won me two stuffed teddy bears, one pink and one orange.  He is very good at the claw machines and still is winning random stuff for me all the time-thanks babe!  When we got back to his house, he asked me to wait in his truck because he had some directions to grab to a place he was going to take me.  So I sat and waited in his truck as he requested thinking, "Where is he going to take me?" He came out about 5 minutes later and asked me to come inside because "his printer was having problems".  I came down and opened the door to his room, the lights were off, he had little candles all over his room on his shelves, sofa, and ottoman.  The candles on the ottoman were in the shape of a heart and there were 2 dozen long stemmed beautiful roses!  It was the cutest thing!  I guess that is where he was taking me, so he lied about printing out directions to throw me off!  It was a great birthday so at least I know he does have a sweet side!

This Valentine's Day we decided to celebrate on Tuesday the 15th because the 14th was going to be so busy with work and the cake dive thing.  We decided that I would cook and he would handle dessert.  I cooked us up some steaks, lemon peppered shrimp, diced red potatoes, and green beans.  He came over with a big bag of stuff and started pulling out the dessert items.  He had purchased all the condiments for ice cream sundaes!

I was very impressed by his selection of all the items.  He also was dressed all nice because he knows I like that.  After I was done cooking dinner, we watched the Jazz and had a relaxing night. I figured I probably wouldn't get flowers so I was interested to see what Kipp had up his sleeves this year.  He gave me money so I could buy my choice of Lady GaGa tickets!!  She is coming next month and I think it is such a great gift because I probably wouldn't have gone without him suggesting it.  I am not 100% sure who is going with me yet because I know Kipp won't be caught dead there!  I told him we could go pick out some new golf clubs that he is in need of for his Spring golfing days.  I guess Lady GaGa tickets are SO much better than flowers, but flowers give me that warm tingly feeling so I like those every once in a while :).

Kipp is nothing short of amazing.  He is a guy, and sometimes guys have a hard time of showing/saying how they feel, but Kipp is pretty good with letting me know he loves me.  Sometimes he leaves me little notes saying he loves me, which I really like.   He is such a cuddler too which he probably doesn't want advertised, but gosh, when he holds me close I feel like that's the safest place I could ever be and I fall right asleep in his arms, which isn't always convenient!  He wants me to stay awake sometimes but it's so hard when I'm so comforted in his arms.  I love him a lot and hope that we have a lot more Valentine's days to celebrate in the future.  He's not perfect, but he sure is perfect for me.  One thing we always do that is our thing, is when we go out to eat, I always have him guess the check price.  He has two chances to guess the right price and usually always gets it within $1.00.  It's fun to see him to figure out all the prices and he's just cute the way he uses his hands and blurts out an answer.  He is my best friend and I love the small things we do like going to the grocery store together, laughing about random things, and mostly- playing games with our families, however- he wins at everything!  I make sure to enjoy the few times I do win.  My family adores him and they hope he sticks around for a long time.  Even my dad likes him.. which is weird because I don't think he has really talked much to previous guys I have dated but he texts Kipp a lot and was telling my aunt that Kipp reminds him a lot of himself, which is true.  I see a lot of good qualities that my dad has in Kipp.  He loves it when Kipp and I go shooting with him, but doesn't like it when Kipp is better at shooting a shotgun!  Told you Kipp is good at everything.. it's kind of disgusting actually.

I love that man though, I really do.  He makes me so happy and I wouldn't mind it if we spent the rest of our lives together.  We'll see where our paths take us and I look forward to all the happy memories to come.

Valentine's Day Massacre!

For anyone who doesn't know.. the Valentine's Day Massacre is something that is hosted annualy by 97.1 ZHT where they bake a HUGE cake and have 97 women dig through to find a grand prize of a 2 carat DIAMOND RING!  This year there was other prizes which were: concert tickets, limo rides, unlimited tanning, and different types of gift cards.

Heather brought it up to me that we should enter into the contest.  I watched a short video online and thought, "What the heck, why not!?"  So we both registered and received emails within a couple days confirming us to the 11th Annual event.  I got pretty excited about the idea of winning something so amazing like a diamond ring, but I wasn't going to get my hopes up.  We woke up at 6:00AM this morning to get ready and head over to the Valley Fair Mall to check in by 7:00AM

This is what the cake looked like.  17ft x 10ft

There were already women waiting near the cake and had been there for quite a few hours.  We weren't THAT ambitious!  We went to take off our pants because we figured it would be easier in shorts and we also took our shoes off for the rules.  We anxiously awaited the 7:40 time to come so that we would be able to find us a prize. You can see me on the very right side of this picture, it cut Heather off.  Everyone was just staring at the cake and waiting for the signal to line up and jump in.

I heard the radio station saying how women were lined up at 4:00 or 5:00am and then all of a sudden all the women started running up to the edge of the cake!  Heather and our friend Lenaa were putting moving their bags and were no where to be seen!  I thought the cake dive was going to start without them!  I think when the radio broadcasters mentioned "lined up" the women assumed they wanted us all to get ready to jump in?  I don't know but they were yellin at us not to get near the cake yet and had everyone kneel/sit down by the edge of the cake.

3-2-1 GO!  Immediately after that, madness!

There were a LOT of girls in a very small area!  The girls in front of us said they would jump to the middle of the cake so we could have the edge.  They lied!  So I decided to jump over the girls to where I could start digging.  The camera guy was right behind me, so he caught me being all aggressive!  I only had a small space to work with and I kept looking back to see where Heather was.  She hadn't even dove in yet!  So I started handing chunks of cake back to her to sort through because I was laying on top of other girls and was using my arms to hold me up!  I saw a yellow piece of paper and was pushing another girls hands out of the way so I could grab it, then it disappeared.  I am not sure if the paper was in the pieces I gave to Heather, but she did end up finding a $100 gift card to Dick's Marketplace.  We call it team work and we are excited to buy some good steaks to reward ourselves!

This was the end where we waited in line to redeem our prize!  Hey, at least we won something!  What a fun experience!  I wouldn't have done it with anyone other than Heather!  Although, if we do it again next Valentine's Day, I might have to teach her to be just a bit more aggressive!  What an interesting way to start off this years Valentine's Day!

My Roomie

Heather and I have lived together since November 2010.  We have had some of the funnest times I have ever had while living with roommates!  We really are two peas in a pod.  There was some issues at first getting an apartment because there was going to be three of us and it didn't end up working out that way, plus- I didn't really even know Heather that well when we were moving in so I had my worries of what type of a lease to sign because what if we didn't get along and signed a long lease?

My doubts went right out the window when we first moved in and started setting up her entertainment center one night.  Of course we put some of it together wrong and had to fix it but we had many laughs that night.  Our apartment isn't that big and this couch we got from one of the guys who works at our apt complex is pretty darn uncomfortable, but it all works out for us.

We are always cooking for each other and shopping for our food together which makes it even more fun because, like I said, I have never had a roommate that I got along so well with.  She likes to cook a lot, so usually she does the cooking and I do the tasting/tv watching while she cooks.  We have had some mis communications where she made enchiladas once, and told me there were leftovers and I thought it was so nice of her to make me some, but when I took a tupperware to work and opened it up.. it wasn't enchiladas but I acted like I liked it.  Come to find out, I had taken the left over filling of the enchiladas and not the actual enchiladas.  She laughed so hard at my blonde mistake, and I'm sure she'll crack up when she reads this.

3D movie TANGLED

We always have lots of laughs.  I'm no comedian, but Heather laughs at all my jokes, and laughs HARD so we are always tearing up after something funny happens because we have laughed so much.  We go to gym classes together and support each other in working out/being healthy.  Neither of us can wait until summer when we can lay out at our pool and go on bike rides and roller blade on the trail that is right behind our apartments.  Our apt rents out tandem bikes so we're ready to be the cutest little couple out there on those too!

I recently taught Heather how to snowboard and the look on her face while we were on the lift was priceless.  She was so scared and I don't blame her because she had no idea what was going to be at the top of that mountain.  She did such a good job for her first time, although her stance was kind of funny.  She held her arms straight out in front of her for balance I guess?  I told her to put them down because I knew she would be hurting the next day.  Try holding your arms out straight in front of you for even a few minutes and tell me you don't get tired.  :)  Overall it was a great day!

I haven't had many close girl friends in my lifetime other than my sisters, so having Heather in my life is a blessing.  She is one of my best friends and became that in such a short time.  I have a feeling that we will be friends for a very long time.

New Year

I wanted to start a blog because I live in Salt Lake and the rest of my family is in Logan.  It's not always easy keeping in touch with everyone, so I figured if someone wanted to know what I was up to, they could check out my blog!  I will do my best to update when interesting things are happening in my life to keep everyone updated.

2010 was a pretty good year, although it had it's ups and downs.  Some of the highlights are different family vacations.

Around the first of April 2010, my mom, Tonya, Taylor, Teniele, and I went to Vegas .  We had a lot of fun in the sun, walking around on the strip, and meeting up with some old friends who used to live by us, The Olsens.  We played some games with them and it was pretty funny playing Hit or Miss because Taylor and Tonya can't ever seem to spell when writing words fast.  If I remember correctly, it was that night that one of my sisters spelled lasagna, "lagna".  We got some good laughs on that one.  I was so exicted to have some hot sun on me, so we all hung out at the pool all day long and I ended up getting a heat rash all over my chest- talk about not fun.

Early Summer Kipp and I went to Flaming Gorge with some of his extended family for a short weekend.  His dad just LOVES to fish, so we went out a few times and I actually caught a fish!  I was pretty happy.  Campfires in the evening were pretty interesting.  I hadn't gotten to know some of his aunts and uncles very well because I had only met them one time around the holidays, so when his aunt Lori was being all loud and crazy, she made me laugh and have a good time.  She was not happy about people keeping their generators on past 10:00pm, so her and another one of Kipp's cousins I believe, went to knock on peoples trailers to let them know that it wasn't very nice.  It didn't work out to their favor, because most people still kept theirs on.  Sorry Lori!

4th Of July Kipp and I joined some of our close friends on a trip to Starvation Reservoir- yeah, we waited too long to get ANYTHING remotely close to Salt Lake so it was about a 3 hour drive or more to Starvation Reservoir.  We had a lot of fun though because two of our friends, Tyler and Cordell both have boats so we were able to go cruise around on the water all day long.  I learned a good lesson on this trip though.. never let Kipp pack our sleeping gear!  I asked if I needed to bring additional blankets, sleeping bags, etc. and he said no.  When we start setting up our tent, we have one sleeping bag and one blanket.. umm.. Kipp how is this supposed to keep us warm?  All in all we had great times, well minus the 4+ hours that we lost one of Eric's dogs Foxie.  She is a little pomeranian and when we were throwing those 'pop its' that make loud noises when they hit the ground so she ran away and it wasn't until early morning that we ended up finding her around camp.

Lake Tahoe was right around my birthday, the last week of July.  There was a big group who went to Tahoe.  My parents, Kipp, Blake, and the Triplets.  None of us had visited Lake Tahoe in the summer time, so we were quite excited.  For some reason Kipp didn't think the drive would be 9-10 hours so he wasn't a happy camper about that.  We had a lot of fun playing frisbee at the lake and laying out by the pool.  Playing with those toy torpedos are fun for hours!  Highlights were the drag queen show we went to, they loved all of the guys at our table and made my dad blush, gambled on my birthday and won almost $300.00, and had a great birthday while I was out there.  We also saw a BEAR!  It came through the back of our patio through this little wooden area in between the condos, and hit in this big cement tube because it was so scared of all the people.  We got a good little pic of it because Kipp was pretty daring to go close to the tube.

Late August was family camping with my family for a weekend.  This time- don't you worry, I packed the sleeping bags and blankets, but Kipp brought some nice sleeping pads.  Kailer was able to come up and we all had a lot of fun with him.  One night, Grandma Rita, Jamie, and Randy also joined us.  We all sat around the campfire playing games.  Taboo with Grandma Rita is pretty funny.  I was sad Grandma and Grandpa Anderson couldn't make it up.  One of the days there were quite a bit of flies bothering Kipp and we didn't bring a fly swatter, so of course he made his own with a plastic arrow and some cardboard box.  It worked out quite well.  Kipp never surprises me with the contraptions he makes.

We also made a couple trips down to Kipp's family cabin in Delta, once with family and once with friends.  Both times were a lot of fun and I was able to get some wake boarding in to keep improving my skills.

All in all, like I said, 2010 was pretty great.  The only negatives that come to mind... is having a roommate that I didn't get along with for the majority of the year.  We were both raised so differently and never saw eye to eye on anything, so I'm definitely glad to be over 2010 in that regard and moving on.  The other downside, is living in Salt Lake.  2010 was my first full year of living down here on my own.  I'm glad I met Kipp fairly quick after moving down here and I don't know what I would do without him, but I do still miss my family so much.  When I have a bad day I used to be able to drive less than 5 minutes to my parents for some good food or comfort, but now it's an hour and a half or more.  Yeah we can talk over the phone, but it's just not the same, so that is something that has always been hard on me.

I look forward to an awesome year that 2011 has to offer me!
